My trainer, Gina, asked me to make her a piece that embodied who I thought she was. I thought about how her work encourages her clients to push themselves one step further, to better themselves. I felt like this is also what Gina does in her own life for herself. I used the image of a staircase as a symbol of the climb one has to take in the journey of self-improvement. I gave her a book of gemstones and their healing properties and asked her to pick out one she needed in her life. She choose amethyst, so I placed the stone on the bottom of the staircase. This can be interpreted in many ways, which is what it was intended to do. I wanted her to find her own meaning in the piece. It is made from sterling silver, and nugold. 2016
